Wake County Misdemeanor Child Abuse Charge Dismissed
August 2019
Client, a black mother, was charged with misdemeanor child abuse after disciplining her seven year old son. North Carolina law allows disciplining a child through corporal punishment so long as the punishment was not administered with a "wicked intent" and does not result in permanent injury. Attorney Sean Cecil secured dismissal of the bogus and outrageous criminal charges, but only after several hours were spent interviewing and preparing the mother for a likely trial.
